On a walk around the Frisco Campground visitors can enjoy the rolling topography, views of the Atlantic Ocean, and at night, the sweeping beacon of the nearby Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. It is also the tallest brick lighthouse in the country. The beacon gained fame in 1999 when it was picked up and moved 2900 ft. Dense vegetation creates a sense of privacy not present in the other campgrounds on Cape Hatteras National Seashore.įrisco campground is within a short drive of the historic Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. The elevated dunes in Frisco Campground afford campers the opportunity to have an ocean view from some of the campsites. There are limited sites with shade in the campground Most campsites are exposed and subject to weather extremes. Biting insects are prevalent in the summer months, therefore netting and repellent are recommended.There is a limit of 6 persons per site, a maximum of 2 cars, or 1 car and 1 trailer, and a maximum of two tents.Only charcoal cooking fires are permitted in a grill, stove, or other self-contained unitĪll equipment must fit on the site pad, large RVs over 25 feet may have to park second vehicles in auxiliary parking away from the campground, or purchase an additional campsite. Wood fires are not permitted in the campground.Quiet hours are 10:00 pm - 6:00 am - Generators must be turned off during quiet hours. Making reservations under another name or account to circumvent the 14 day restriction is prohibited. Same day reservations can be made based on availability.Ĭamping is limited to a total of 14 days of camping between Memorial Day and Labor Day. New reservations will not be accepted during the closure.Ī reservation to camp is required. Any reservations affected by the closure will be refunded for the days the campground is closed.
The Cape Point Campground will be closed from Friday 09/22/23 until a date yet to be determined due to anticipated long term flooding.Ĭampers with current reservations that occur during and beyond the closure will have those reservations honored and may resume or begin camping on Sunday 09/24/23 with the exception of Cape Point Campground. The Oregon Inlet, Frisco and Ocracoke campgrounds will be closed on Friday 09/22/23 and Saturday 09/23/23 with camping anticipated to resume on Sunday 09/24/23. Wooden boardwalks make it easy for campers to travel to and from the beach.Īll Cape Hatteras National Seashore campgrounds will be closing at noon on Friday 09/22/23 due to an approaching storm. Dumpsters and a recycling center are located at the entrance of the campground.
There are no RV hook ups in the campground. Each campsite is equipped with a paved parking pad, picnic table, and a charcoal grill for cooking. Camping here will put you in a prime location to experience the history, culture, and breathtaking beauty of North Carolina's barrier islands.Ĭampers have access to modern restrooms with flushing toilets, potable water, and outdoor unheated showers.
